Opera House and more!
Thursday, Oct.26, 2017
Our hotel is only 2 blocks from the Sydney Opera House. At 9:15 am we all walked there and had a fantastic tour inside the Opera House. What a beautiful and amazing structure. I wished we thought to purchase tickets for the symphony. Guess we’ll have to come back!
It was very overcast this morning and rain was predicted for later in the day. It wasn’t the best day for pictures but we had no choice.
After our tour we boarded a specially chartered boat just for our group and toured the harbor with amazing and fascinating commentary by a local guide. We learned so much about the history of Sydney. We also enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch while touring the harbor.
After the cruise we rode to Bondi Beach and wandered around there for about an hour and a half. It is a very popular beach for the locals - very pretty setting. It was beginning to get chilly and it looked like rain was on its way. By the time we reached the hotel, it was pouring. Some opted to go with Jim, our tour director, to an opal store, but we didn’t want to walk in the rain so we opted out. We rested a bit and then went down to the lounge for some wine and a sandwich. I was so excited to see pavlova on the menu so of course I had to have some dessert. It was ultra delicious! A perfect way to end the day!
